During rough weather, the powerful forces of the sea can be seen breaking in cascades of foam over the rocky outcrops and reefs, at other times there is a peacefulness and quietness which I find calming and restful. In my work, I try to express both of these energy states. Sometimes, the decoration on my pottery expresses the feeling of sea foam as it pounds into the rocks of the shore and cascades into beautiful patterns of water spray. In other pieces of work, there is a simple and purer statement about the quietness and solitude of the countryside.
