He is a leading Israeli artist best known for his pioneering of Optical and Kinetic Art which stresses change and movement. His use of light and color provides a unique sensory experience for the viewer, Agam began his training in Jerusalem at the Bezalel Academy where he studied under the artist Mordecai Ardon. He moved to Zürich in 1949 and while attending Kunstgewerbe Schule studied under the renowned color theorist Johannes Itten. He moved to Paris in 1951, where he current lives and works.Agam’s works are included in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
