1988 - L.L. COOL J - GOING BACK TO CALI / JACK THE RIPPER

Description: Def Jam did the same thing with this record that they did with "Bring The Noise" a few months earlier. When the Less Than Zero movie dropped, the first single was "Are You My Woman" by The Black Flames, and they randomly decided to put "Bring The Noise" by Public Enemy on the B-side. The Public Enemy track wasn't even mentioned on the cover, nor was there a picture on the front. But everyone bought the record for the Public Enemy song, so when they pressed more, they put a picture of Public Enemy on the front under the Black Flames' picture, and actually remixed the song and added an instrumental and the now famous acapella. They dropped "Going Back To Cali" by L.L. Cool J as a single from the movie and put the new Kool Moe Dee diss track on the B-side, and it too wasn't mentioned at all on the jacket. That track blew up, and that's why people were buying the record. So when they pressed more, they changed the jacket's front picture, and listed "Jack The Ripper" on the back of the jacket.
