Some additional info on this set.......approximately 6000 of these sets were printed and a portion of them were given to the individual players and teams in the league by the 2 owners of Ballpark Cards which was not affiliated with the league. They sold or gave away their entire production run of these sets. There was only one printing. Obviously, if you were a player in the league, family member of a player, etc., this set is a great memento, something that you would likely treasure and not give away. Consequently, there is not a large number of these complete sets offered for sale on eBay or anywhere else. 1988 was the only year that a league set was issued. Why????? Another larger set was also released in 1988 and it included the NCAA logo on the card, used without permission from the NCAA. This created an issue between the NCAA, the CCBL, and the company who issued the set. End result was that the league decided it was not in their best interests to further allow an outside individual or company permission to release cards of the players in the league. Additionally, the cards of the stars (Thomas, Vaughn, & Bagwell) in this larger set began showing up at local card shows in large quantities which cast suspicion on the print run. It also casts doubt on the value of any of the stars from that set. Since that time the individual teams have occasionally offered items with player cards, but these are done strictly as a team release, not a league or independent entrepreneur issue.
