Jubilee of Stockade and Tower Settlements Israel State Medal, 5746 - 1986 Maximum Mintage: 5,685 The founding of Tel Amal (Nir David) in the Valley of Beth Shean on December 10, 1936, (Kislev 5697) on the second day of Hanukka, created the first link in a chain of 55 Tower and Stockade settlements. These were established between 1936 and 1939 (5697-99), during the years of Arab rebellion, and spread from the Dan and Daphna Kibbutzim in the north, to Kibbutz Negba in the south. The initiative taken by the members of Tel Amal to plan and establish a fortified settlement proved to be a real stimulus; a great wave of new settlements followed within a short period, despite the opposing policies of the British Mandatory Government and the armed attacks by Arab guerilla bands. Obverse: Model of a Tower and Stockade Settlement, verse in Hebrew and English "In the night.....a guard and labor on the day" (Nehemiah 4:16). The dates 1936-1939, 5697-5699. Reverse: The number 50, the emblem of the State of Israel. The words "50 Years Jubilee of Stockade and Tower Settlements" in Hebrew and English and the serial number. Edge: Israel State Emblem and words "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English. Serialization: The medals are numbered. The specific number of this medal is 5273. Designer: Carmella Hartal. Engraving: Tidhar Dagan. Mint: Kretschmer. What you see is what you get - I did not use any stock photos for this auction. I combine shipping!
