Description: PIECE OF SPRINGFIELD, MO MEMORABILIA LESTER E. COX FAMILY This super nice duck decoy is a recent find from an estate auction of a well-known Springfield, Missouri family. The auction contained Lester E. Cox, Lester L. Cox (son), Cathryn "Katy" Cox Lipscomb (daughter) and other Cox and Lipscomb family heirlooms. Lester E. Cox was a well-known businessman, civic leader and philanthropist. He was the namesake of Lester E. Cox Medical Centers. He also owned the largest Ford Tractor dealership in the US in the 1940's. His son Lester L. Cox also became a civic leader and philanthropist. Lester L. Cox was the namesake of Lester L. Cox College of Nursing. This 15" hand-painted carved Wooden Duck was a gift to Lester L. Cox by one of his employees, "Ruby Jo." I have not been able to determine more about the identity of Ruby Jo and whether this person carved and painted the Duck. Duck is in excellent condition. Would make a very nice addition to any Decoy collection. Duck is personalized on bottom. TO: (MY BOSS) LESTER L. COX FROM: RUBY JO - 6/26/82 USPS Priority Mail Shipping.
