The system is installed in pairs, in an extension of the aircraft tail.An improvement program of the ALQ-117 began in 1981. The system is being modified to the ALQ-117 Pave Mint configuration that has improved line-replaceable units and threat capability. They can be glued, and the glue still sticks.
