PSA CardFacts excerpts:Dwight Edward Clark (January 8, 1957–June 4, 2018) was a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers from 1979-1987. Clark was part of the 49ers first two Super Bowl championships teams, in part because of a legendary play that he made against the Dallas Cowboys in the 1981 NFC Championship Game. With just 58 seconds left in the game and with his team trailing by a score of 27-21, Clark leaped high and caught a six-yard touchdown pass in the back of the end zone. The 49ers kicked the extra point and advanced to Super Bowl XVI. That play is simply known as "The Catch," and is one of the most famous in NFL history. Clark retired with 506 receptions for 6,750 yards and 48 touchdowns. He played in two Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro in 1982. Dwight Clark went into administration after his playing days ended, and served as general manager of the 49ers from 1995-1998 and Cleveland Browns from 1999-2001. He was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in 2017 and passed away the following year.
