1976 $2  MISALIGNED ERRORs(3) , 3rd print offset, cut error & black print 1448*

Description: YOU REALLY NEED TO READ ALL OF THIS IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS COLLECTOR OF ERROR NOTES ! This is an easy one. Never had an error note before? I can't imagine how this was kept out of a collection since it was printed. It's inexpensive due to condition, and has glaring errors. One guy says, it was cut to look like an error. Well, that's impossible because the lower margin is so wide, that wasn't possible. You can actually see the top of the note which was printed below this one. I do know, this was in a collection for a long time and protected in a proper plastic envelope. (not pvc) and the note is really in great shape. Edges and corners are not bad. Has a few spots but the pictures are great so you can see. I'M NO GRADER, BUT... THIS IS A EF30+ WITH MINT (BEP) ERRORS. ERRORS (3) 1) First the big error, of the cut error, 2) the green inking is out of position, notice serial number and green seal too low. The eye can easily see that on the left, the serial number is too low, almost touching the Neff signature. 3) the black inking is too low, notice the comparison picture. I am including a picture of a properly printed note right next to this one and you can see the glaring difference. GREAT ERROR NOTE! The reverse side is also one which one can see the cut error, and the backplate # is 66 (Please look closely at picture) Low serial and backplate numbers are what collectors look for considering BP #'s can get in the 4 figures, 66 is low. I say, any under 100 is low.. Now, I am proud to annouce, this note has a 3rd error and it's the black inking of the four numbers (the little black2's) giving you the financial district assigned # for Bank of New York. Again, check another note against it, and you can see the black inking is too low. This is considered a Bicentennial note as it is a Series 1976 44+ years old. Sure lucky this hit a collection and didn't get out in the world. Now due to the fact this note is in an unsealed container, I cannot accept returns. Please look carefully at the pictures, read the entire description, and use the enlarging tools. I have taken great pictures, use them for your advantage. NO RETURNS. Now, to value & pricing: Let's do it by the numbers: 1) 1976 note is 44 years old... 2) Date of note is our bicentennial, that commands a small premium.3) Error note: Whitman's Encyclopedia of US Paper Money says that errors start from $20 - $50. Major errors can be much more. Cut errors can be VERY expensive. Just ask anyone or a dealer in currency. But, I will take the three errors and do a combo. $20 X 3 = $60, 4) Ink error of the black ink5) 3rd printing errors of the green seal and serial numbers out of position or 'shifted' (shift error)6) Face falue $2 = $627) Age, $2 due to basic condition of note. (If it had no errors, the note would bring $2 - $6 in this condition. = $648) The Tags: please look at the picture showing the corner with the bad cut. Those tags, left by the person at the BEP just tearing off the note from the sheet, AFTER it was cut clearly shows this person was in a hurry. ANYONE who was NOT in a hurry would have easily seen these 'tags'. Add some more value, but for you, I'll ignore it. 8) There are fees in an Bay transaction so I MUST add 13% for ebay & PayPal say. $6.40 and then...= $70.40 and $200 for me... No, haha, just kidding. Make it $79 and it's on the way.9) Postage. I could add $5 and give you free postage, or just mark it you pay ebay's $ guess. I say another $3 - $4. so, in the end, (not counting sales tax) figure I will start the auction at $79.00 BUT WAIT ! ! !There's more: It's a star note, and I've saved the best for last. Only those who read the whole thing will get this far and it is really the fun part, shining light, and like a marquis advertising a great show, this is funtastic: Being a STAR note, which, as you know, means it's been reprinted due to having an error(s) and cannot meet the stringent quality control so they take it off the press, trash it, reprint it, and remove a letter off the end of the serial number and insert in its place a *.(STAR). So, think about this a moment. They goofed, had to reprint it and it left the BEP (Bureau of Engraving and Printing) probably in this case, worse shape than it was when it went for reprinting. How this mess got out I can only sumise that it was about 4:59 on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend or holiday or someone's vacation. Their mind was NOT on printing. NOW, Think about this. It's a STAR NOTE WITH ERRORS. Just shouldn't be. What a find! I really should price this MUCH higher. SO... That leaves us with a terriffic collectable. And with all that, still ONLY $79.00 Hope you enjoyed looking at it, and if you want it, good luck in the bidding. Oh, buy the way, making me an offer, isn't a felony, I can only respond three ways, Yes, NO or make you a counter offer. Let's go, I need new shoes. Capt Brian Last note: I may pull this to send for grading. If I got recognition of three errors, AND a star note, I would likely price this around $500 to $900. If I got anything higher than Extra Fine ##, It would go over $1000.
