The Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus is coming to New Orleans for the first time in 20 years to play at the Superdome September 11-14. Times-Picayune photographer G.E. Arnold and reporter Millie Ball flew to Houston, Texas recently to look over the circus and to watch auditions for the circus' clown college. They were all sizes and shapes and came from all directions to sit in the sawdust. But they all had one goal in mind, to become a circus clown. The even that called them together was the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus Clown College audition held recently in Houston, Texas. And even promises of classes from 8 am to 6 pm daily, with two evening sessions a week and no Saturdays off didn't deter them.Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated 7-27-1975.
