However, my mother always did say I was a bit unusual. Ialways thought it was because my older and larger brothers, namely Jamesand W. R., kept me slapped away from the table, or made me sleep at thefoot of the bed. But, maybe Momma was right, maybe I was just born thisway.But, to be more sincere, the main reason I wanted to write the liner forthis new album by the kids and myself, is to thank a world of people andmost of all to thank God who makes all things possible.This is our fourth album in just a little over a year, and I sincerely believeit is our best ever. While listening to the playback of the tape while we wereall gathered in Mercury Recording Studios on Nashville’s famed “MusicRow”, my mind wandered back to the first album the children and I re-corded. Although, I had worked with my brothers and sister-in-law andrecorded a number of albums with them, I was still probably more nervousthan the kids. Jake Lambert, our producer, who met us at the studio assuredus everything was fine and from that day on he has been a friend in allsituations. Whenever I get to feeling “down in the dumps” 1 call Jake and hegives me the incentive to keep on keeping on.Of course my wife Betty is not only a mother to our children, but myright arm in all of our endeavors. Thank God for her. Also, I thank God formy Mother and Father who took us to church where we could leam of aSaviour that we can not only sing about, but can know in our hearts that Heis real and that He lives today as He did in the hearts of those old saints whohave gone on and are waiting on The Hallelujah Square. I could go on and onbecause so many people have been so good to us. They have come to oursings, they have bought our records and permitted us to be able to carry theGospel in song, from the small Georgia churches to almost all parts of theUnited States and Canada.So, as you read these liner notes, don’t think that 1 am blowing my ownhorn. But I just wanted to say these few words to you that I might not beable to say, since it is almost impossible to see all of you when we are inyour church or community.
