The basis for this replica manual appears to be the first H1 Rider's Handbook that Kawasaki produced. As a result, there are some minor differences between this manual and later H1 handbook editions. For example, on the back of this replica it says "Kawasaki Aircraft Co. LTD" and the very old-style Meguro Works flag with their logo (an inverted "M" and "W") are featured. In April 1969 Kawasaki Aircraft Co. (which previously purchased the Meguro Works company) was disolved and became a division of the reorganized Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Therefore, later editions of this manual will have "Kawasaki Heavy Industries LTD" printed on the back of it and the flag is not featured - just the old-style Meguro Works logo that was adopted by Kawasaki are featured. Also, there is technically no part number (e.g., 99995-314-01) listed on the back of this reproduction manual like later editions; it simply has "RH-1" printed in a tiny box (e.g., "Rider's Handbook 1 ?"). Another interesting difference between this early replica and later editions is that the "Forward" narrative in the book is a full page of detailed narrative followed by "Kawasaki Aircraft Co." In contrast, the later editions simply featured a three-sentence paragraph followed by "Kawasaki Heavy Industries LTD." Finally, this book only addresses the CDI distributor ignition model bikes as there is no mention of ignition points in this book. Please keep in mind, this is not a cheap, low-quality photocopy that was made from an unprofessional, low-resolution "PDF." This handbook has been professionally reproduced and attempts were made to match every detail of the original, to include the size (approx. 4.5" X 7.25"), grade, and color of the paper it's printed on. All the artwork (photos, graphics, typeset) and paper stock have been painstakingly reproduced - and all flaws have been removed from the pages. This replica has no crooked pages; no signs of rips or tears; no fingerprints; no oil and grease marks; no handwriting; no smudged or obscured printing, etc... When comparing this replica to an original the main thing you will notice is that the orignal will look old, worn, and/or faded and this replica looks like a brand new handbook. The size and placing of the staples holding the book together have even been carefully matched! The interior pages are smooth, glossy, and bright white just like the originals, and they feature crisp black print and vintage black and white photographs. The most challenging part of the reproduction process is related to matching the color and texture of the cover. After extensive research into paper stocks it was concluded that an exact match of the cover color and texture was not possible. But unlike the dull, faded, stained, and/or worn covers we are all used to on our original manuals, the cover on this replica is brand new, bright red, and very durable. The guage of the paper on the cover of this replica is actually thicker than the original paper and the red color is slightly deeper and more crisp - both of these are considered improvements because the original manual covers are thin, prone to wear, and easily succeptible to staining and fading. I should also say that because this is an exact replica of the printing in the original it appears to contain several formatting and typographical errors made by Kawasaki. Some are minor like on page 5 it says overall motorcycle length is 8.25 inches versus 82.5 inches. Also, item #5 in the table of contents is "Parking" and it's referenced on page 11. The topic is discussed on page 11, but Kawasaki forgot to provide the "5." and "Parking" topic label at the beginning of the discussion. That's because there is an incorrect sentence fragment in its place that is immediately repeated in the next paragraph below. Other errors can be found on the generator diagram that's on page 12 where adjusting ignition timing is discussed but the schematic does not reference certain critical parts. Interestingly, the only way I noticed these and other errors is that most (but not all) were corrected in the 1970 edition of the handbook, which is very similar in many respects to this 1969 edition. So if you receive a copy of this handbook and think you have found errors created as part of the reproduction process, you are wrong!
