Description: Handsome fold-out 1969 Chevron road map of Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, and southern Alameda County, printed more than 49 years ago. The map opens to a generous 42" x 18" and has great detail on old road alignments, with cartography by H.M. Gousha. The coverage area also includes San Leandro, Alameda, Emeryville, Castro Valley, Albany, and El Cerrito. This map was distributed by the Standard Oil Company of California in 1969 to promote its Chevron brand. It was issued during the companys "Chevron Island" marketing campaign, and the front cover art shows a hula girl dancing on top of a gas pump. It is dated 1969 in the legend, and the code number in the lower margin is 7-QQ. Condition: It is in very good, lightly used condition, with tiny breaks just starting on a couple of the fold corners and no rips, tears, or writing.
