It would be another 30 years before the Soviet Union collapsed and shrunk back to its Moscow-centered Russian origins. Though published by the venerable Denoyer-Geppert Co of Chicago during the height of the Cold War the maps within were actually prepared and edited by the famed cartologist, Harold Fullard, during in his long career at the publishing firm of George Phillips & Son in London. Fullard was born in St. Petersburg in 1915 and had an enduring love and fascination with both Russia and the Soviet Union. This atlas contains 32 full color maps richly tracing the geographical, cultural, economic, and political aspects of this vast region over its long history which has almost always been centered in today's Russia. 9" X 7.5" soft cover vellum book in excellent condition.
