Description: 1965 SCHWINN COLLEGIATE 5-SPEED SPRINT BICYCLE CORVETTE PURPLE/VIOLET VARSITY S5 Click Photos to Enlarge Description Here is an original February 1965 VINTAGE (The serial number is BA) early SCHWINN Collegiate "Sprint" equipped 5-speed road cruiser bicycle with 26" wheels. It is in the original and very appealing VIOLET/PURPLE colored factory paint. If you like UNIQUE original bikes, this may be a great bike for you. This color is awesome and you rarely see it on these early Varsity bikes! With the insanely high price of gas (and the economy being bad) now is the time to ride a cool vintage bike! *This bike has a cool original paint frame and forks with original paint and decals, Schwinn head badge, cool Schwinn sprocket and cranks, unusual top bar mounted 5-speed shifter, (like used on the 5-speed Corvete) cool matching original Schwinn cruiser style seat, wide Schwinn handlebars, newer comfort hand grips, Schwinn SPRINT derailleur, factory chrome kickstand, chrome "AS" (Arnold Schwinn) seat post clamp, newer pedals, full chrome fenders with factory chrome fender braces, and more. *A RARE early bike in a VERY hard to find color! IF this was a Stingray bike in this color made the same year it would be worth a couple thousand dollars! These are still really cool and you can own it for a great price! *The tires are 26x1 3/8". They are vintage Schwinn tires and do hold air. The bike has chrome Schwinn S5 rims front and rear. *The bike is an original FIVE SPEED and the gears do operate. The hand controlled brakes are operable as well. *DIMENSIONS The standover height is approx 30 1/2". The distance from the floor to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 31 1/2". The distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 22". The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 21 1/2". The bike will accomadate most any rider comfortably. The seat height is easy to adjust. *NOTED FLAWS I got this one just like you see it. These SPRINT equipped bikes are cool and rarely come along! There is way more $$$ value of individual parts here than you think. I LOVE that it still wears its cool original paint color! (Paint has obvious scratches etc) chrome is shiny but is not perfect show quality. Both wheels have a slight wobble when you spin them. (most every used bike out there seems to) If you click on any of the pics they get very large to show lots of detail. Please take a look at all pics for exact condition and email with any questions before you bid. *This appears to be a fairly nice original unmolested bicycle unless otherwise noted. A great bike to ride on relaxing days through the park or to the beach.
