Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1965 GIBSON SG STANDARD, Near Mint, All Original, Free Shipping in US- $17,495. PREMIUM and PRISTINE! The 1965 Gibson SG Standard solid body electric guitar has frequently been described as the pinnacle of this desirable model’s production. What is being offered for sale is perhaps the most perfect example you will ever come across. Aside from a tiny blemish near the pickup selector (see photo) and extremely light scratches on the pickguard, that the camera couldn’t pick up, this guitar is as new as the day the case was opened for the first time. You know the story, a teenage boy watched the Ed Sullivan show one fateful Sunday evening, was entranced by The Beatles and bought an electric guitar – this 1965 Gibson SG. He taught himself to play but mostly the instrument sat in its case waiting to be re-discovered. Almost sixty years have passed before this guitar saw the light of day again. It was in a chance encounter with a neighbor, that I learned her husband owned a guitar that might be valuable. What he had was an amazing discovery. I myself am an SG fan, having owned several through the years, including a ’61 reissue. I compared my guitar to the original and aside from the obvious, there was little comparison in speed, playability and The Sound! The original sounded thicker, fuller, sharper, more brilliant and much more distinctive than my reissue. The neck is extremely fast. The differences were astounding! This guitar is proof of why we all seek vintage instruments. FREE SHIPPING & INSURANCE - A premium instrument commands a premium price. To make this a bit more palatable we are offering free shipping, fully insured within the U.S. For shipments to countries outside the U.S. we will add only the cost of shipping, insurance, and fees at cost with no handling charges added. “Appearing from the Gibson factory late in 1960, the Standard became a strong focus for the new line. It had a rosewood board with crown markers on mahogany neck, thistle headstock inlay, 22nd fret neck/body join, beveled-edge double-cutaway mahogany body, cherry finish, two humbuckers with regular four-control layout, and “angel-wing” pickguard below pickups. There was a sideways Maestro Vibrola tremolo, then short Vibrola (with ebony block behind the tailpiece), and in 1963 lyre-logo Deluxe Vibrola. At first called Les Paul Standard, with that name on headstock or truss-rod cover (all such models later known as SG/Les Pauls), but by ’63 the model was officially the SG Standard.” (ref. Reverb.com) This guitar is completely 100% original, every component, except for its strings, down to the last screw is the same as when it left Gibson’s factory. No modifications have ever been done to this prime example. It comes complete with the original, hard-shell case and the original literature.
