1961 Ford Galaxie

Description: For sale is a 1961 Ford Sunliner Convertible. This car was last on the road in the late 1970's when it was driven back and forth to a local college. It is equipped with the "V" code inline six-cylinder 223ci Mileage Maker Six and is backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Odometer reads 27,177 (which I assume is 127,117). Has one vintage silverish blue repaint over the original Cambridge Blue paint and an original blue interior. Convertible top is/was white. The car is incredibly original & complete, missing only 1) the "R" & "D" on the hood, 2) the lower left door trim, and 3) the ignition & door keys. All four 14" steel wheels appear to be original & date correct. Includes the original convertible top boot and a vintage accessory under-dash 8-track player. A few pieces from the car are sitting in the trunk including one gas tank strap, the right rear taillight trim Q, and the fender-mounted radio antenna. It has been stored indoors for the last 40 years, but has rust including both rear quarters, a medium-size hole in the driver's floor (near the door), and larger holes in the trunk. I was unable to get the engine to turn by hand, but left it soaking it in an attempt to get some movement in the future. I have not applied power, and not tried cranking the car via the ignition system. Transmission seems to go through the gears well. This car deserves to be back on the road, but would also serve as a suitable parts car. If I don't sell the car here, I will sadly part it out to recoup my initial investment.
