The story of TST Taylor, Smith & Taylor Company is the story of two brothers, William L. and Charles A Smith, the village of Chester, West Virginia and the suspension bridge connecting the pottery town of East Liverpool, Ohio with Chester. The two brothers were originally from Wellsville, Ohio, and came to East Liverpool early in their lives. William L. Smith became the owner of a large lumber yard. They later built a large plant in East Liverpool, Ohio in the early 1900’s. And started making their beautiful Ironstone Pottery. TS&T was bought out by Anchor Hocking in 1972 and continued to produce dinnerware until it closed in 1981.
