Description: We at ThriftSongABQ want you to be satisfied with every purchase that you make from us. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, we will accept your return. Presented here is a 7.75 in. tall, white ceramic vase made by the master designer and potter, David Gil. The opening at the top of the vase is in the shape of a large asterisk. David produced these vases in the early 1960's in three heights, 5" , 8" and 12", first in white, then black, then browns, blues, and others. The pattern was very successful, and soon these vases, and other designs by David, became virtual ICONS of 60's Modernism, Minimalism, and Pop Art culture in America. This vase is solid white, hand-thrown, and in excellent pre-owned condition. It shows no cracks or repairs. Photo #15 shows one very small scratch. The under-marking says: "Bennington Potters Vermont *1995" (the pattern number, not the DATE), and"dg" (for David Gil)." The prolific potter and designer David Gil started the Bennington Potters studio in 1948, and by the 1960's his pattern numbers were approaching the number 2000. This is why you will see many erroneous dates for these vases on the Internet. These asterisk "Spark" vases, whose pattern numbers are prominently listed on the base, were #1994 (5 in. diameter vase, globe-shaped, the "Orb") ; #1995 (8 in. tall vase in white, the one I'm selling here); #1996 (8 in. tall vase in black), and so on. These vases are many times listed, in error, as having been made in the 1990's. 1960's David Gil Art Pottery Vase, White 8" Asterisk ("Spark") design, Iconic MCM
