Description: Up for sale is the 30th anniversary commemorative set marking the move of the Bost9n Braves to Milwaukee. A move that opened a large can of worms that was ultimately inevitable. The massive success of the move (initially anyway) led to the As, Dodgers, Giants and Senators all moving West. This set I believe was made in 1983 making it a 30ths anniversary set. I could be wrong and this was made in 1988 marking the 35th anniversary. Alot of thought went into this 33 card set. The cards match the card sizes of Topps cards in the early to mid 50s (app 2 3/4" x 3 3/4") and the card numbers are not sequential. It numbers up to 53 but the set always had only 33 cards. The photos feature the last taken of the Braves team wearing their Boston Braves hats. Features Ed Mathews (WITHOUT SAMPLE ACROSS TUE COVER), Andy Oafko, Bill Bruton, Joe Adcock, Lew Burdette, Del Crandall, Warren Spahn. This was before Hank Aaron joined the team but Sid Gordon is included in the set. Gordon was let go from the Giants when Willie Mays came up, let go by the Braves when Hank Aaron came up and later was let go by the Pirates when Roberto Clemente came up. The cards are VG/EX to Excellent condition with corner wear. ThenJogn Cooney card has a line on the back from....something. I think it came that way. Kindly see the photos for more details and please see my other listings for more items available.
