Boys' names are used for fighters; girls' names for bombers. Transports begin with the letter "T"."Rufe" is at home on the sea. This float type Japanese Fighter Plane produced by Mitsubishi is known to American naval aviators at Rufe. The Nakajima A6M2-N (Navy Type 2 Interceptor/Fighter-Bomber) was a single-crew float seaplane based on the Mitsubishi A6M Zero Model 11. The Allied reporting name for the aircraft was Rufe.
