Description: Exceedingly rare Herend of Hungary hand painted porcelain pedestal figurine of a seated female Dachsund dog. Signed on the pedestal by Herend sculptor Eva Vastagh, and dated 1943, during the height of the second World War. Eva passed in 1942, so this would have been one of her final creations. This piece has the Herend first class blue shield mark. Stamped into the porcelain is the Herend mark, along with the item number 5320. Above the blue shield is a hole in the porcelain, where it is quite thin. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition. Measures 8" from end to end, 6" tall and weighs 1 pound 8 ounces. Stunning piece!
