Less than 1% of Russian lacquer boxes subject matter are dedicated to communist propaganda themes. “Social Realism” boxes depicting such scenes are highly coveted. This painting depicts two Russian soldiers and their German Shepherd dog on shore patrol in a Russian waterway. The box is signed in Cyrillic on the lower left with the village name “Fedoskino” and on the lower right with the artist's signature “Kuznetsova”. The box is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It measures approximately 6 1/8 inches x 4 3/8 inches and 2 inches tall.
