Description: Please see pics Approx 8-3/4” by 5” wooden box Stamps changed radically in 1916. Only 4± inches long and no portrait. All denominations the same size. Also new is five colors of ink representing five different retail price and tax classes of cigars. Nickel cigars were Class A and printed orange on blue. Class C was a dime cigar. These stamps wrap only on the top and front of a box and are easily recognized. When you see one, think 1920’s or 1930’s. Dates change in 1916. 1917, and 1926. If the stamp has a series number after the 1926 date, the stamp dates after 1931. Add the last two numbers of the Series to 1930 and you’ll know the date. This one is 1940. Has tax stamp for 50 cigars “act of 1926 series 110” (1930 + 10 = 1940) Also Union Made Cigars label Factory No. 100 Dist. Of Conn. 50
