Description: "THE GOOD EARTH" ORIGINAL MOVIE PROGRAM – 1937 MGM. 9" x 12", 20 pages (with cover). 3-color cover with metallic gold border accent. Two-color duotone contents. This quality souvenir program is from the MGM film "THE GOOD EARTH". It was a prestigious drama about Chinese farmers who struggle to survive (based on the 1931 novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck). The film starred Paul Muni & Luise Rainer. Notably, Rainer won a Best Actress Academy Award for her performance. Rainer's Oscar was her second in two years, after her 1936 Best Actress win for The Great Ziegfeld, making her simultaneously the first actor to win multiple Academy Awards and the first to do so in consecutive years. The film also won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Karl Freund. It was nominated for Best Director, Best Film Editing, and Best Picture. NOTE: There is a dedication page to IRVING THALBERG, who died during its filming. Included are credits, loads of photos, and a wealth of information on the production. A well-designed movie reference. Condition is considered GOOD to FAIR with moderate surface/stain/edge wear. Moderate surface creasing with no tears or spine separation. Complete.
