Description: PRODUCT DESCRIPTION1935 Texas Centennial Commemorative Half Dollar coin graded by PCGS at MS65. COMMENTSOf all the 1892 to 1954 Classic Commemoratives, the Texas Centennial is one of the most popular and generally commands a premium with all else equal. In fact, because of the storied "Americana" this coin represents, it's one that we personally enjoy as much as any. This 1935 Texas Commemorative half dollar graded gem (but we think better) by PCGS with vintage tones of russet-gold, icy-blue, burgundy, mahogany, and even some cobalt is truly a visually captivating coin. The blend of colors gives the coin a rich and dynamic appearance, with russet-gold and burgundy highlighting the raised details, while hints of mahogany and cobalt add depth and character, especially around the devices and the fields. The surfaces are lustrous, with a beautiful satiny glow that complements the attractive toning. The strike is well-defined, showcasing all the intricate elements of the design, from the detailed wings of the eagle on the reverse to the fine elements of the star on the obverse. The excellent surface preservation contributes to the grade, with no major distractions or abrasions visible, making it a superb example for collectors who value both quality and eye appeal. The combination of strong luster, striking details, and the exquisite natural patina makes this commemorative a standout piece. Feel free to request other photos and we'd be happy to provide. We shot a couple sets with different lighting characteristics but no filtering or doctoring - all natural photos! We did our best to carefully provide the most accurate photos as possible. As eBay sellers, we want to be sure there is no mystery with coin you are buying!!! Early in the administration of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, on June 15, 1933, Congress passed an act to authorize the coinage of silver half dollars "in commemoration of the one hundredth anniversary in 1936 of the independence of Texas, and of the noble and heroic sacrifices of her pioneers, whose revered memory has been an inspiration to her sons and daughters during the past century." This was the first of over two dozen commemorative bills that would become reality during Roosevelt's tenure. The legislation provided that "no more than one and a half million pieces" be created on behalf of the American Legion Texas Centennial Committee, located in Austin in that state.
