Description: In the 1930s, many companies offered premiums of some type - in bags of flour or sugar, at the store with purchase, or items you could send away for with box tops & a few cents. These 2 nursery rhyme wall plaques were offered by Kelloggs for 2 Rice Krispies box tops & 10 cents each. The paper label with all the information about the 6 beautiful wall plaques that could be ordered is still on the back of "Lady Bug Lady Bug". The artwork for these plaques was done by Vernon Grant - his signature can be seen in the upper left corner of "Bobby Shaftoe's Gone to Sea" & in the lower right corner of "Lady Bug Lady Bug". Vernon Grant was a prolific illustrator & is probably best known for his creation of the SNAP! CRACKLE! & POP! characters for Kelloggs. For these 2 plaques, paper prints & mattes were mounted on masonite & clear-coated with varnish or a decoupage technique. Each plaque is almost 5-1/4 inches wide & almost 6-1/2 inches tall. Each has a small metal ring on the back for hanging. Both plaques are in good vintage condition, but there i some crazing of the clear coating as can be seen in the photos. As it says on the original label "an ideal & distinctive picture group for the nursery and recreation room", these are cute whimsical plaques that make a bright accent to any room. Ships USPS.
