Description: NOTE: Shipping cost includes insurance coverage for the full purchase price. Iconic Penguin cocktail shaker. Designed by Emile Schulke in 1936 for Napier just after prohibition ended. Silver plate over brass. Two piece construction. Signed on bottom. See photos. Height: 12 1/2"Width: 4"Depth: 7" A very fine example. 1930s, USA. Condition: Patina as found. We did not try to polish this shaker. There is an area a little bigger than a quarter where someone polished through the silver plate to the brass at the back of the head. See photos. Otherwise, the plating appears to be in tact. No bubbling, pitting, flaking or heavy oxidation. Surface oxidation only The foot plate has two very slight curves that follow the weld connections. One claw and the heel of that same side of the foot curve upwards ever so slightly from the top view..These do not affect the stability of the shaker and I believe them to be production related. They are subtle, and nearly impossible to capture on camera. The form (head, beak, body, wings, feet, and handle) is otherwise clean and blemish free. No dings, dents, bends, breaks or damage of any kind. The beak hinges freely as intended. The interior is clean with only very minor surface oxidation. Displays beautifully.
