Description: This listing is for a copy of the original 1928 TOUSSANT L'OUVERTURE by Leslie Pinckney Hill. This book/play is readable and well held together but does have flaws, which are as follows: creasing on some pages where they were once folded, staining on the edges of the book, some staining/foxing inside, most notably, there is damage to the front cover that extends into the book. It looks like the edge of the book was stabbed with something - this ends before the book begins on the 14th page. This sounds worse than it actually looks so please see the photos so you see exactly what I am talking about!!! Other information:Hardcover, 1st edition, black cloth stamped in gilt. A historical drama in five acts, written in blank verse. Hill was a noted African-American author and educator. He graduated from Harvard in 1903, taught a the Tuskegee Institute, and was the first President of Cheyney University, the oldest institution of higher education founded for African/Americans.
