Description: Omar the Discontented Cat by Ethel C. Chamberlin. Illustrated by Katherine Sturgis. Published by P.F. Volland Company as part of the Volland "Sunny Book" Series. 1925 - Eighth Edition. Measures 6 in. X 7.5 in., pages unnumbered. This little vintage children's book contains full-page and smaller color illustrations and four stories, including the title story, including: Omar the Discontented Cat, Sarah the Gray Mouse, A Puppy Called Kay, and Jenny Wren and Her Husband Jack. Written by Ethen Chamberlin and beautifully illustrated by Katherine Sturgis. Sturgis (1890 – 1979) was an American writer and illustrator. She illustrated books, ceramics and magazines as well as designing jewelry. She collaborated with a number of authors including her husband, Clayton Knight. The artist, Hilary Knight, is her son, and he says that his most famous image of Eloise was inspired by one of his mother's paintings. This is a very cute little book, a vintage and fun children's book, and is in great condition given its age and young readership. Would be a lovely addition to any collection!
