Description: The 313th of the 79th in the World Warby E. Lester Muller The 313th Infantry Regiment was part of the 79th Division of the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I. The regiment was formed on August 5, 1917 at Camp Meade, Maryland, and led by Colonel Claude B. Sweezey, a West Point graduate. The regiment was known as "Baltimore's Own" because of the many men from the city who served in it. In July 1918, the regiment sailed to France to join the active front near Verdun. During the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, which began on September 26, 1918, the 313th Infantry's objectives included taking the heights of Montfaucon, clearing enemy territory, and honoring the offensive's first phase. The regiment suffered heavy losses, including 45 officers and 1,200 enlisted men. Hardcover, 176 pages, Illustrated with Photographs, Bound Tight, Clean Rare Antique Book
