This original 16-page far left wing newspaper contains articles that promote Labor and bash capitalism. There are 2 dramatic political cartoons, one showing a worker "boxed in" but struggling to "break out" of his situation and captioned "Beginning to show his strength". The other political cartoon is captioned: "How a fellow feels who believes everything he reads in the paper" with a frightened citizen shivering in his bedroom while Communists and left wingers run at large all around him. The New Majority was a Chicago-based labor newspaper. It began in 1919, and ran until 1924.The New Majority was one published by the Chicago Federation of Labor as the organ of the Federated Farmer-Labor Party in the United States. The target of a takeover by the new Workers (Communist) Party it was basically destroyed by this internecine battle between the unionists of the CFL and the WP. Published between 1919 and 1924 it remained an important publication documenting the non-Communist left in the American workers movement. Our listing here however is only a sampling of the issues from 1923, from the time of the founding convention of the Federated Farmer-Labor Party. These particular issues scanned were chosen because they contained articles that document the sentiments toward the Workers Party held by Robert LaFolette and others around him during the time immediately before, during, and after the hijacking by the Workers Party of the Farmer Labor Party founding convention held in the first week of July 1923. New Majority itself was published throughout 1919, 1922, and 1923, mostly on a weekly basis.Very good condition. This listing includes the complete entire original newspaper, NOT just a clipping or a page of it. STEPHEN A.
