Description: 1910 T206, Piedmont Texas League (SL) - Foley White, Houston Buffaloes - SGC 2.5 On the Card & Back - The Southern League cards are a popular (and difficult to find) subset of the T206 collection, featuring 48 players from four minor leagues: the Texas, South Atlantic, Virginia, and Southern Association. These cards come with three different backs: Piedmont 350 (generally the most common), Old Mill (rarer and more sought after), and Brown Hindu (the rarest of the three). On the Player - Baseball Reference notes that Foley White (1882-1955) was a catcher and outfielder who played for several minor league teams during his career. In 1905, he played for the Beaumont Millionaires/Brenham Orphans, followed by the South McAlester Miners in 1906, the Temple Boll Weevils in 1907, and the Shreveport Pirates, Galveston Sand Crabs, and Mobile Sea Gulls in 1908. He then spent the 1909-1910 seasons with the Waco Navigators and continued playing for various teams until his career ended in 1915 with the Sherman Hitters. Despite no records showing that White ever played for the Houston Buffaloes, his T206 card lists him as a member of that team. White is one of many players from the early days of minor league baseball whose contributions largely went unnoticed, and whose history remains inexact.
