Description: Antique 1910 Edwardian Etched Wooden Box w/ Women's Silk GlovesMaker unknownWooden box with hinged lid which has been hand etched in a cherry pattern on the top, front, and sides. The etchings are quite shallow and appear to be lightly burned, as if done with a hot nail or other sharp tool. A pair of what appears to be silk women's gloves with covered snaps at the wrist were stored inside. On the bottom is an inscription in pencil which reads "Dec. 25, 1910. Christmas present from Bernice Russer to Celia Moore". A small brass latch on the front completes the pieceMeasures approximately 5.75" x 6" x 2.5"Box is in good condition for its age with a wonderful patina. All etching remains legible. The hinges remain tight. The clasp at the front does not hold the lid down tightly but is instead a bit loose. The gloves are in rather poor condition with soil, stains, holes, and torn seams
