Description: Stunning miniature art work. A re-creation hand painted in 1902 by artist Blair of the original 1888 painting by Hirszenberg generally accepted as D'Acosta Instructing Spinoza. There is a tremendous amount of social history involved in both characters depicted in the painting as well as Hirszenberg himself. This is a truly stunning miniature which I believe was made available by the famed A. S. Aloe Company founded in 1860 in St. Louis. I base that on the verso label shown in photograph. There is a very descriptive label also on the verso backing stating the piece to be a signed proof in color and guaranteed hand painted. It includes the original painting title, references that in 1902 it was on display in the Louvre with a vale ue of $38,000 and it has a very complete description of the paintings content. It is also a very lovely and delicate frame that accompanies this beautiful miniature. All in all just a fine piece of art at a reasonable price.
