Description: I have for sale an 1896 Presidential Campaign satirical pieces circulated to ridicule the democratic proposal for free coinage of silver at 16 to 1. (16 oz of silver to 1 oz of gold) William Jennings Bryan was the Democratic candidate and William McKinley was the Republican candidate. McKinley won the election. This piece is 3 1/2 inches in diameter, (90mm), made of cast metal and is in a very high grade circulated condition with a slight defect in hair above ear. The obverse shows the Liberty head in the center with the year 1896 at the bottom rim. It also has 13 five pointed stars at the rim. The reverse has an eagle in the center and around the rim it reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - 16 to 1- NIT. Also, on the edge it reads CAMPAIGN SOUVENIR.
