Eduard Staniek , also Eduard Staněk (born October 12, 1859 in Lispitz , South Moravia , Austrian Empire , † August 25, 1914 in Frankfurt am Main , German Empire ) was a German medalist , sculptor and decorative designer . Life Staniek studied from 1882 and 1887 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . From 1889 to 1892 he was a student of the sculptors Edmund von Hellmer [1] and Stefan Schwartz . [2] In addition to his work as a medalist, sculptor and designer, he also worked as a carver . [3] As a chaser , he worked together with the sculptors Ferdinand Luthmer and Friedrich Christoph Hausmann . [4] [5] He taught at the Frankfurt School of Applied Arts , [6] where he taught the medalist Max Lewy (1885–1920), who was also his assistant at times, in the chasing class .
