Description: I have here for sale a book entitled THE BOOK OF THE DEAD THE PAPYRUS OF ANI in the British Museum. The Egyptian Text with Interlinear Transliteration and Translation, a running Translation, Introduction, etc, by E A Wallis Budge. Sold at the British Museum and published by Longman & Co, et al in 1895. There is an introduction which covers the versions of the Book of the Dead, the Legend of Osiris, the Doctrine of Eternal Life, Egyptian Ideas of God, The Abode of the Blessed, the Gods of the Book of the Dead, Geographical and Mythological Places, Funeral Ceremonies, and The Papyrus of Ani and then you have the hieroglyphic text with transliteration and word for word translation. Followed by the full translation and a bibliography.Dark green half leather on dark green hardboards with gilt border in between the two. 5 raised bands and gilt lettering to the spine. Scuffed to head and tail and to joints and board edges. Boards firm. Lighter green endpapers. Gilt top edge to pages.
