It was produced as advertising for Hoyt's Madison Square Theatre, located at Broadway and W. 24th Street in New York City. Not to be confused with The Theater at Madison Square Garden, this theater was built in 1863 and existed as a theater from 1865-1908 when it was torn down. The theater had several names during its history but the name "HOYT'S MADISON SQUARE THEATRE" can be traced to Playwright/director Charles H. Hoyt who co-ran the theater from 1891-1898 - thus the age of this piece.
