Description: Ornately illustrated SALINAS CITY HIGH SCHOOL lithograph broadside diploma. Printed by George Holbrook Baker, San Francisco, 1889. Broadside, lithograph, 16x22 inches, filled out in ink and signed by the school board president and the school superintendent. Among the lithographs' pictorial details are the Salinas school building and the interior of the library. The diploma is for Elmer Pendleton Alexander (born on June 15, 1871, lived with his family in Salinas, California, and in 1907 was an assistant cashier somewhere in Salinas - that's all I can find). GOOD condition, the broadside's blank backside has heavy browning and offsetting to its upper half that lightly darkens the image on the upper half of the front, there is also a 1 inch horizontal streak across the center, again showing up lightly on the front; otherwise just lightly age toned, bright and clear. Rare lithograph from 1889 Salinas printed by the noted San Francisco lithographer, George H. Baker.
