The book is bound in printed paper-covered boards with a gilt-titled leather spine. The cover is darkened, rubbed and very worn at the corners. The leather spine is a bit scuffed at the edges, but is not cracked, chipped or torn. There is a dark smudge and a penciled name on the front endpaper, but the rest of the interior is good with no other marks, underlining, major tears (except for a 1 1/2 inch tear on page 115) or odor. The paper is tanned or darkened with age and there are smudges and mild foxing throughout. The hinges and binding are strong with no loose or missing pages.
