Description: 1880 Punch Bowl Salt Glazed Pottery Wekara Blue White Octoberfest German 3479 7L We offer for sale this lovely antique Wekara 3479, 7L pottery, salt glazed stoneware punch bowl with lid and applied decoration, circa 1880’s. Made in Germany. It is marked and signed. Bowl has scenes depicting a German Octoberfest celebration. It measures approx. 14 inches in height and 31 inches in diameter at its wides point (without handles, and approx. 33 inches with handles. It is a heavy piece, over 10 lbs without packaging. This appears to be an early piece. This pattern was made in or about 1883- into late 1920s. It is in antique condtion with minor loss of decoration. Interior has some staining. It is a beautiful piece for decoration. The exterior is lovely and in good vintage condition. Interior has staining from prior use. We have only gently cleaned it. Interior may be restorable, we have not tried. No Crazing chips or cracks to stoneware. Lid is in good condition, with some interior staining. There are a few small pieces of applied decoration which have have been lost over time, as shown in photos. It is lovely as a decorative piece. See photos for full description. Great gift for German pottery and stein collectors. It would also make a lovely massive vases for a gala, wedding or other celebration. It was found in an estate in Northern California. We rarely see this pattern offered for sale. Blue and white pieces are sought after by collectors. Similar pieces have fetched over 600, online. Wekara was established in 1845 by Wilhelm Krumeich. Wekara made this pattern from approximately 1880 into the late 1920s. They also made simialr pieces for Villeroy & Boch - Mettalch see #2087 Punch bowl, #2087 circa 1916, in Rosbach after their great fire in 1921.
