Engraving is the oldest form of reproducing a design and was practiced in Britain before the 15th century. This Antique dog print is from a very old and rare book. These prints are engraved illustrations from within the body of the page rather than as a separate plate, consequently they are relatively small and may have a very slight bleeding of the text printed on the reverse side and may have little to moderate foxing or toning due to age. These engravings are very rare and are some of the best breed representations that can be found from the 1800's. These represent the origination and history of the breed and are a wonderful collector’s item.
