Description: RARE L’ECLIPSE NEWSPAPER WITH GREAT COLOR COVER. I WILL BE LISTING A FULL RUN OF THESE 1867-1868 POST CIVIL WAR NEWSPAPERS! FOUR PAGE COMPLETE ISSUE. L'Éclipse was a French magazine of the nineteenth century, appearing from 1868 to 1876. Edited by Francis Polo, L'Éclipse was a showcase for the illustrator André Gill, in which he drew caricatures of his illustrious contemporaries. In December 1867, the journal was censored. "La Lune will have to undergo an eclipse," an authority commented to the editor Polo when the ban was instituted, unwittingly dubbing Polo's subsequent publication: L'Éclipse, which made its first appearance on 9 August 1868.[1] Gill would contribute caricatures to this successor of La Lune as well. My wife and I have decided it was time to sell off our very large collection of Historical Newspapers. Some we will sell individually and some in lots. Most of these lots are NOT RESEARCHED! I have been in procession of most of these Newspapers for over 30 years or more! I this would be a great opportunity to add to any collection and I will be doing this until I exhaust my inventory which will take me some time, so PLEASE CHECK BACK!
