Description: Leather Ledger of Newspapers Published: n.p., 1861-1862 Undated leather ledger book with 220 Civil War newspaper articles pasted in. 81 pages have writing and 40 pages are blank. This ledger is 6" x 15" and 2.5" thick. Newspaper articles are dated, but many without the year, showing locations of Washington, Baltimore, St. Louis and Philadelphia, to name a few. Some clippings show New London Daily Evening Star (New London, CT). This appears to be a Union collection covering about the first year of the war, 1861-1862. The binding is holding presently, but is weakening, thus it is somewhat fragile. Fascinating collection of period history!
