Description: Here is an 1857 Dated California Gold Plated 1/2 for sale. This backdated piece was privately struck in the 20th century. It is made of thinly gilded brass and is in circulated condition. Examples of these varieties are prized by collectors of U.S. fractional gold coins and tokens. This backdated issue is catalogued by Mike Locke as an Octagonal 1857 California Gold 1/2. It has a Liberty #1 obverse with 13 stars. It has a Bear #1 reverse. This token is smaller than a dime and weighs 0.61 grams. Token is in toned circulated condition. This example displays mottled color, most likely due to some loss of the gold plating. It sports bold detail and a nice strike. Please view pictures to determine grade and attribution for yourself. The item pictured is the exact one that you will receive unless noted. Expect Free Shipping and secure packaging. Dime and scale are not included. We are not responsible for grading service returns. Sorry, no international shipping.
