This work is divided into three parts, a description of the regency of Algeria, the native races of the regency of Algeria, and the history of the regency of Alergia.This work has been translated and compiled from various source material, most notably the descriptions and accounts of Dr Moritz Wagner, a German naturalist who explored Algeria from 1836 to 1839. Written by Francis Pulszky, a Hungarian politician and writer. The first edition of this work. Illustrated with four double-paged lithographic plates. Collated and complete. Containing a prize bookplate to the front pastedown: 'German, French, and English Protestant Institute, Gothic House, Clapham Rise, London, Distribution of Prizes Midsummer 1855, 2nd Class, 1st Prize, Merited by Richard Trevelyan, and presented to him by his sincere Friend, the Principal'. CONDITION In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, some light shelf wear to the boards and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Spine is slightly faded and cloth is split to both joints. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, hinges are strained and binding is slightly tender. Pages are generally bright and clean.
