Description: This engraving was extracted from the 1840 book, "American Scenery: of Land, Lake, and River Illustrations of a Transatlantic Nature" by N.P. Willis, published by George Virtue, London 1840 (printed in 1838). The artist is William Henry Bartlett and it is signed in the lower left corner. The title of the engraving is "Ascent to the Capitol, Washington". This engraved paper is approximately 7 1/4 inches by 7 1/4 inches. (see photos for measurements). The engraving is taped to a matte at the top, I have not tried to remove the tape. The matte is 12 inches x 11 inches. There is some age related discoloration of the paper. There is an internal paper crease, top left, could be an original paper flaw. Please see photo for details.
