Description: For sale is a cool 1838 Matron Head Large Cent. The Large Cent is what the original cents looked like all the way up to 1856 when they shrunk them down to what the penny is today. But back then the Large Cent was about the size of a half dollar and almost as heavy, being made of 100% copper. The Matron Heads are some of the most sought after coins of all the Large Cents. This version of the Matron Head, called the "Young Head" was only minted 1835 to 1839.As you can see from the pics the coin is in very good condition and it would come in as a nice VG grade. It has a nice copper-brown patina to it and the date, images, and lettering are all present, and every letter in LIBERTY on the obverse is present and strong which is usually the first thing to wear off on Large Cents. Here is your chance to own a coin that was circulated at the infancy of our country. Thanks!
