Joseph Ketley (1802-1875) was an English, Congregational missionary to Guyana, which was the former British colony of British Guinea. He was a strong abolitionist and advocated for the teaching of Christianity to African and native Indian tribes in the colony which was unpopular with British officials and plantation owners. This 1835 pamphlet is a description of Ketley's ideas on atonement, the belief in Christianity that believers can receive salvation through the actions of Jesus Christ. Ketley specifically challenged an old idea of limited atonement which believed in the limited application of this doctrine on people. COLPAP-0958-RT72
